No noise, no hiss, no popping issues, power jack on the top instead of the side. I probably should have looked at it's dimensions, but it wouldn't have stopped me buying anyway. It's JHS sized and not Timmy sized, so sticks out from the other pedals on my board. My only quibble is that it's physically bigger than I expected. I prefer this to pedals that go from too little gain to too much with the smallest of knob turns. It doesn't have the greatest gain range, but that's fine by me as you can make subtle adjustments. I really like the gain flavour of this pedal, unlike the Timmy which I found too raspy. The JTM1 is a bassy amp already, and the bass is still there, but tightened up rather than extended. Just like dickjonesify said, where the Lightspeed dips some in the mids, the Morning Glory will bump just a tad. I don't agree with people saying it's boomy or scooped. I think that the Morning Glory would be a great companion to the Lightspeed. As advertised, it really does sound like an extension of your amp - like a NMV amp would sound if you turned it up, but at reasonable bedroom volumes. Every combination sounds great, but my favourite is Tele into Ampeg. Greer Lightspeed Organic Overdrive 2023 New From Authorized Dealer. Just received my Lightspeed yesterday and tried it with both my amps (Ampeg GVT5 and Marshall JTM1), and three different guitars (Tokai Love Rock, Tokai 335, and CV Tele). Greer Lightspeed Organic Overdrive - Gameday Black - New In Box - Authorized Dealer. These 3 pedals give me all the overdrive flexibility I need. The JRC is warmer sounding, but not too warm, still has the characteristic Greer punch, doesn't have the TS mid hump, and has a moderate low end that is still plenty in my rig (usually Les Paul into BF Deluxe Reverb).īottom line is, for my rig and my ears, this is staying on my board along with my Timmy and my Honey Beest. I bought them both and much preferred the JRC1458D replacement (the OPA2604AP significantly drops the gain of the pedal to the point where it wasn't enough to keep up with the other pedals on my board). Nick immediately responded (GREAT guy to deal with!) with 2 options: an OPA2604AP (lower gain) or a JRC1458D (about same gain as original chip). The Greer Amps Lightspeed Organic Overdrive is a unique pedal that aims to bring a transparent overdrive to your tone. I noticed that the IC was socket mounted so I contacted Nick to see if he had any recommendations for a replacement chip to tame the bass response. I owned the Morning Glory for about a day and wasn't impressed with it at all.Īlthough I really like the tone and versatility of this pedal, I found it to be a little too bottom heavy. The rolloff on the Lightspeed is outstanding, so you can use it as your "always on" pedal and use your volume control for gain. Why 'organic' Well, simply put, it's the clearest, most natural feeling, and best overdrive we've heard for the player looking for a natural drive tone. The EQ on the Lightspeed has much more range, and the tone of the drive when pushed is much more tube-like. The Lightspeed Organic Overdrive is a very natural sounding overdrive. The Lightspeed is more edgy/agressive sounding than the Red Snapper.
